World Class Barbers · Content audit + 90-day plan

Your cuts are world class. Your reels don't show it yet.

I went through your Instagram reel by reel, then studied three barbers who turn haircuts into views and bookings. Here's what I found, and the plan to fix it.

01 · The audit

What's getting views

The World Class Barbers Instagram grid
@worldclassbarbers.au · current grid

What I'm seeing

  • The three biggest reels all have a famous AFL face in them.
  • Without one, a reel lands around 1–2k views on a 16.2k account.
  • The two newest reels have zero comments.
  • The afro cut hit 14.2k with no celebrity. A clear before and after carries itself.
  • You're funny and natural on camera, but it only shows up in the celebrity skits.

02 · The bottlenecks

Why the regular reels flop

The cuts are great. The videos show a finished haircut and nothing about how you got there.

No hook

The first second gives nobody a reason to stop scrolling.

No consultation

We never hear what the client wanted or what was wrong with their hair.

No expertise

Nothing explains why this fade, this length or this technique.

Filler captions

Hype and hashtags. No story, no cut name, no reason to book.

Mixed look

Clean backdrop shots sit next to shaky handheld clips, so the feed doesn't read premium.

Personality on the bench

The humour only comes out when a celebrity's in the chair.

03 · The references

Three barbers worth borrowing from

Each one solves a different piece of the problem.

The look

@samrascals_ · Sam Rascal

1.6M followersUKReels 300k–8.1M
  • Muted, desaturated grade. The feed reads like a magazine.
  • Fixed camera, tight on hands, tools and hair.
  • Plain backdrops: bare walls, brick, an empty shop.
  • One small lowercase line of text, or none at all.
  • Slow, moody audio. The clippers do the talking.
  • Captions only tag the products he used.

What he doesn't have is personality. He barely speaks, and that's your opening.

198k followersMelbourne · Noble ParkReels 13k–614k
  • Opens on the client's own words: "i got bullied for 6 years.." (80.3k)
  • A text hook in the first second: "grow out your hair bro, trust me." (614k)
  • The reaction reveal: "ewww get a haircut" becomes "omg what cut is that???"
  • Every caption names the cut and ends with a booking link.

  • Talks you through the cut: "how to fix flat and bulky hair (send this to your barber)".
  • Puts the client's reference photos on screen, so you see the brief and then the result.
  • List formats like "haircuts ive done on FLAT hair".
  • "Start here" and "Client results" highlights guide new visitors.

04 · Why they work

Why their reels travel

Instagram tests every reel on a small group first. It pushes it wider when people do one of these four things.

Watch time

They stay to the end, or watch twice.

Shares

They send it to a friend.

Saves

They want to come back to it.

Comments

It makes them react.

Sam Rascal

Watch time + shares

8.1Mviews · 4.8K shares on one clipper reel

  • Satisfying to watch, like cooking or cleaning videos.
  • No intro, so it loops and gets rewatched.
  • No words, so it works in every country.
  • Same look every time. You know it's him in a second.

Hakeem Hoang

Stopping the scroll + comments

614kviews on a 198k account

  • The first second asks a question you need answered.
  • It's about more than hair: bullying, confidence.
  • Opinions get people arguing in the comments.
  • A clear before and after payoff.

075barber

Saves + shares

~10%of viewers liked it (most accounts get 1–3%)

  • It's useful, so people save it.
  • "Send this to your barber" asks for the share.
  • One specific problem, so the right person sees themselves.

What all three have in common

  1. The first second says why to watch.
  2. There's a payoff worth waiting for.
  3. The hair is the star, framed tight on a clean background.
  4. One idea per video.
  5. It's about the viewer's hair, not the shop.

Your own proof

A famous face is a hook

79.8kWarwick Capper reel
2kregular reel

When a reel gives people a reason to watch, your content already travels. The job is giving every regular client a hook that strong.

Close-up scissor work from a World Class reel

This close-up is from one of your own reels. The camera work is already there. What's missing is the story around it.

Worth knowing

Views aren't bookings

Hakeem's 614k reel mostly reached people overseas. One comment reads "u saved ₹100". None of them can sit in his chair.

For a shop in Keilor East, local reach matters more than big numbers. Problem-solving reels like 075's pull in people nearby who can actually book.

  • Sam's look makes World Class feel premium.
  • 075's teaching brings in locals ready to book.
  • Hakeem's hooks make sure every video gets watched.

06 · The formula

What World Class content looks like

Sam RascalThe look
Hakeem HoangThe hook
075barberThe teaching
MichaelThe humour

Premium like Sam Rascal, except you actually get to know the barber.

Every regular client becomes a story: the consultation, their problem, your technique, the reveal.

07 · The brand pillars

Three pillars, every video

Each World Class video does one of three jobs: shows the premium service, teaches something, or lets your personality through.

These are examples of the direction, not the full content plan. Each one takes a format that's already working for these creators and reworks it for World Class. We'll build out the full list together.

Pillar 1

Premium service

Shows why a World Class cut is worth more: the beer, the hot towel, the detail.

The World Class Treatment

"what a World Class cut actually includes"

The Consultation

"he showed me this photo. here's what I told him"

  • The client's reference photo goes up on screen.
  • You give your honest take on what'll suit their hair.
  • Ends on the finished cut next to the reference.
Pillar 2

Education

Shows the skill behind the cut, so people trust you with their hair before they've met you.

Send this to your barber

"how to fix a cowlick (send this to your barber)"

  • One common problem per video: cowlicks, a thinning crown, a grown-out fade.
  • You talk through the fix while you cut, with captions on screen.
  • Ends on the result and "book through the link".

Cut for your face shape

"round face? here's the cut I'd give you"

  • A numbered series (part 1, 2, 3) so people follow for the next one.
  • A simple face-shape graphic on screen.
  • Real World Class clients as the examples.
Pillar 3

Friendly personality

Shows who's behind the chair. Sam Rascal never does this, which is why it's your edge.

The reaction reveal

"he walked in like this 😭"

  • Funny text over the before shot.
  • Real banter from the chair, no script.
  • The client's reaction in the mirror is the payoff.

10 · How it works, A to Z

Six steps, every month

  1. Week 1

    Plan

A monthly plan across your three pillars, with every hook written in advance. I tell you which clients to book for camera.

  2. Before each shoot

    Prep

Shot list, reference looks, client consent and the consultation questions, so shoot day runs itself.

  3. Every 2nd week

    Shoot

On site for 4 hours. I direct the angles, the lines and the retakes, so the skill actually makes it on camera.

  4. Within 5 days

    Edit

A signature World Class grade, sound and captions. A hook in the first second of every video.

  5. Mon · Wed · Fri

    Post

Captions, covers and scheduling done. Three posts a week, one per pillar, without you touching your phone.

  6. End of month

    Track and improve

Views, saves, shares and bookings from Instagram in one report. We keep what works and drop what doesn't.

11 · Your month

Two shoots in, twelve videos out

Each shoot gives six videos, two per pillar. Every week covers all three.
